Oasis was formed out of a group originally named Rain, which was comprised of friends Paul McGuigan, Chris Hutton, Paul Arthurs, and Tony McCarroll. The schoolboys later added buddy Liam Gallagher to take over lead vocals, and the band soon changed their name to Oasis. Liam’s brother, Noel Gallagher, was involved with the work of other bands at the time of Oasis’ formation, and as the group was in need of a lead guitarist and back-up vocalist, Noel was asked to join the band. Noel accepted on the condition that he would be the bandleader and would oversee all of the band’s work.

  	Dallas' 105.3 The Fan=Epic Fail Does the FailBlog have a radio section? 105.3 in Dallas changed formats from "Man Talk" KLLI "Live 105.3" to Sports Talk early last year and became "105.3 The Fan". Any radio geek like myself has definitely taken notice of CBS's sports barrage lately. They've had their "eye" recently on Boston, Dallas, Washington, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh. The most successful of these has been Washington's WJFK 106.7 The Fan. Ironically, Dallas may have been its least successful attempt at launching FM Sports. 105.3 The Fan has drawn no ratings and no cume. They thought becoming the new flagship of the Dallas Cowboys would give the station some meaning. The Cowboys aren't even in the top 10 teams that make the most money off of radio, believe it or not. This in addition to The Fan having no direction as a station. It clearly sounds like another "Live" with a small sporting touch added to it. They're not doing anything to either KSPN ESPN 103.3 or 1310/104.1 The Ticket. dTo use football vernacular--this station is "on the clock"--or at least it should be. CBS can fix this easily if they actually start thinking out of the box for a change and stop looking at blueprints. Smooth Jazz 107.5 The Oasis must return to Dallas radio. Mega can move to 105.3. The Cowboys can go to KLUV 98.7 (Oldies/Classic Hits) as they were there from 2002 to 2005 since Jerry Jones is that set on always having his team on FM.   	Dallas' WBAP on 96.7...Yuck! This news came out of nowhere this past Friday when I checked Radio-Info.com Gold Oldies format Platinum 96.7 KPMZ (whose call letters were used partly as a tribute to the old Memories 96.7 format) let go of their entire airstaff including morning legends Larry Dixon and Gail Lightfoot as well as Ron Chapman who came up with Platinum's playlist. Dixon and Lightfoot were the morning team at KOAI Smooth Jazz 107.5 the Oasis. They're all gone and so is the Oldies format which actually did pretty well for Citadel. But tell that their Citadel's greed-meister, Farid Suleman. After Platinum signed off, I expected to hear the words "socialist", "health care", and "President Obama" all in the same sentence coming from Rush Limbaugh since he's on WBAP. I didn't hear those words. In fact, I didn't hear a single thing since 96.7's web stream had cut off. The stream would recover but only after 10 minutes. But I didn't hear Beltway banter at all. I heard...Country? As I read Radio-Info.com, they started posting about the Texas Twister which before they signed off in mid-2008, branded themselves as a mainstream Texas Country format. I've been a huge believer that Texas Country should be heard on more Texas stations if it isn't already. Dallas already has 95.9 The Ranch which is pure Texas Country. After an hour as the Twister, they segued into "Reagan Radio @ 96.7" which played nothing but speeches from Ronald Reagan's two terms as President.
